Hyderabad/New Delhi:MNN: An FIR has been registered against Omar Lulu, the director of upcoming Malayalam film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ Over the lyrics of ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’,Priya Prakash Varrier starrer song in the movie.

The complaint, the man stated that the Priya Prakash Varrier starrer song,

when translated to English, hurts the sentiments of Muslims as it makes derogatory references to the Prophet.

The song has been produced by music composer Shaan Rahman and actor-playback singer Vineeth Sreenivasan.

The complainants, Zaheer Ali Khan, Muqeeth Khan, residents of Falaknuma in Hyderabad, alleged that the Priya Prakash Varrier’s song.

Which has become an internet sensation now, when translated to English, hurts the sentiments of Muslims as it makes derogatory references to the Prophet.

Either the Priya Prakash’s song is removed from the film or the lyrics are changed.

“When I first saw the viral video I fell in love it.
I watched it so many times and shared it many times.

We wanted to know the meaning of the song so I got the original Malayalam lyrics and translated it online.

I found that the song referred to the romance between the prophet and his wife Khadija.

It is inappropriate and an insult to the prophet.

We showed it our elders and we decided to lodge a complaint. I am not against the film or the actors.

I am not against the film’s release also.

We are only protesting against this song because it hurts sentiments of Muslims,” Muqeeth said.

A group of Muslim men has filed a complaint at the Falaknuma Police Station in Hyderabad

against the song Manikya Malarayi Poovi from the Malayalam movie Oru Adaar Love.

The video of the song featuring actor Priya Prakash Varrier has gone viral on social media.

Following the complaint, we took legal opinion and subsequently a case under IPC section 295A (hurting religious sentiments)

has been registered against the film’s director, Omar Lulu,

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Falaknuma division) Syed Fayaz told agencies.

Priya Prakash’s song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ is a famous mappila paattu

that was originally composed by Thalassery K Refeeque to the lyrics penned by PMA Jabbar.

The song in the movie has been produced by music composer Shaan Rahman and

actor-playback singer Vineeth Sreenivasan — the duo behind global hit song

‘Jimikki Kammal’. ‘Oru Adaar Love’, starring Siyadh Shajahan, Priya Prakash Varrier,

and Noorin Shereef, is slated for release on March 1 this year.

An assistant commissioner in Hyderabad said they will take action after consulting Islamic clerics about the translation of the song.

The viral clip sent the Internet into a meltdown. #PriyaPrakashVarrier has been trending on and off since a couple of days.

On being called the nation’s new crush, Priya prakash said, “I am very happy and exciting.

So many people falling in love and all that, it’s new but I’m very happy.”

The Internet calls the viral clip a perfect Valentine’s Day gift and some are actually reliving their high school romance days through it.

But, for Priya, it’s nothing like that.

“As I am studying in a women’s college now, it was really nice to have a gang full of people of my own age.

We had fun on the set.

Priya Prakash remember my mixed school education time at that moment,” she said.

The official Manikya Malaraya Poovi clip has been watched over 14 million times (and counting on YouTube).

Her Instagram account got verified and with just less than 100 posts, Priya has over 2.8 million followers now.

Priya praksh says, with such a response, she’s a bit ‘tensed.’

“I’m tensed about that because it is a big responsibility now.

People have a lot of expectations from me now. When the movie releases.

I hope to keep up with the expectations and do my level best,” concluded Priya.

Priya’s Twitter is still not verified. “Thank you so much for the love and support,” she tweeted on Monday.
